Getting to Know Max Issaka

The last time GoBlueWolverine caught up with Max Issaka, the Woodbridge (NJ) linebacker was at the NFTC in Happy Valley, where he was one of the camps top performers. In this update, he gives his current offer list, his thoughts on Michigan, decision time frame, and more.

GBW:  Have you noticed an increase in interest since we last spoke?  If so, what schools are you hearing from?

Max Issaka:  "Oh definitely!  The newcomers in my recruitment are Miami, North Carolina, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Fresno State, and Purdue."

GBW:  Who has offered you so far?

Max Issaka:  "Pitt, Maryland, NC State, UCF, and UConn."

GBW:  What schools do you feel are close to offering?

Max Issaka:  "Probably BC, Duke, Michigan, and Michigan State.  All of them are showing a lot of interest."

GBW:  Do you have a favorite or a top five at this point?

Max Issaka:  "No sir, not yet."

GBW:  Growing up, did you root or follow any particular school?

Max Issaka:  "The USC Trojans and the Ohio State Buckeyes."

GBW:  What position are you being recruited to play?

Max Issaka:  "Some schools like me at defensive end, others like me at linebacker."

GBW:  You told me before that you're comfortable playing any position, but how much weight can you add without affecting your speed and athleticism?

Max Issaka:  "I weigh 230 right now; I can probably another 25 pounds."

GBW:  Are you planning to camp anywhere this summer?

Max Issaka:  "I'm going to try to, my coach and parents would like to get me out there this summer."

GBW:  You mentioned Michigan as a school that might offer soon.  How would that offer impact your recruitment?

Max Issaka:  "I would have to put Michigan up there in my top five."

GBW:  If they do, would you visit them this summer?

Max Issaka:  "It's a possibility."

GBW:  The reason I ask, is I'm curious to what your decision time frame is.  Have you talked with your coach and family about that?

Max Issaka:  "My coach wants me to decide before the season starts, he thinks it would be good for me."

GBW will have much more on Max Issaka in the coming days.
