Richard Ash Ready, Readies, for Michigan

One of the final pieces of Michigan's 2010 recruiting class has been busy preparing for his arrival to Ann Arbor. GoBlueWolverine caught up with the Florida D-lineman regarding his qualification status, his workout regimen, and when he'll be arriving on campus.

Richard Ash, Michigan's newest defensive tackle, faced some concerning questions regarding his qualification status and his future enrollment at Michigan. Those questions have been answered.

"I'm fully qualified," Ash told GoBlueWolverine. "I found out probably a couple weeks ago."

Outside of his academic standings, Ash has been readying for the Maize and Blue in other ways as well. One of his first missions was getting familiar with the now infamous Barwis workouts.

"I've been working out, running, lifting and all of that stuff. Coach Barwis gave me a handbook. They're good, but man they're tiring! I'm currently at 6'4" and 300 pounds. I've probably gained like ten pounds."

Ash's arrival in Ann Arbor is quickly approaching as well.

"I'm going to be up there in June. I don't have a specific date yet, but I'll be there in June. I'm just trying to learn stuff so I can get on the field early and show what I can do."

The Pahokee, Fla. DL should be able to show Michigan fans what the Muck City has to offer. The Wolverines are very familiar with what former Blue Devils bring to the table, having Martavious Odoms, Brandin Hawthorne and Vincent Smith currently on the team.

"I've got a really good relationship with all three of them. They never rushed me but they just wanted me to come up there. They were just telling me to come in and work hard and show everyone we want it. I saw them all two weeks ago when they were down here."

And his former-and-future teammates all have advised Ash in the same way.

"All they've just said is to come in and show that I want it and hit the weights and learn the plays. All of that stuff will help me get on the field early."
