Walsh to Take his Time

Glen Ellyn (IL) Glenbard West lineman Jordan Walsh dishes on his visit plans, his decision timetable, his interest in Michigan, and more. Will Scout.com's #3 OG make a return visit to Ann Arbor?

Sam Webb:  You're ranked by Scout.com as one of the top offensive guards in the country.  For folks that haven't seen you play before, break down the strengths of your game.

Jordan Walsh:  "I think I finish blocks pretty good.  Also with finishing blocks, I think I do a pretty good job of just finishing blocks and getting downfield to a linebacker at the second level."

Sam Webb:  So you're really athletic and mobile.  So far as scholarship offers go at this point; how many do you have?

Jordan Walsh:  "I have 19."

Sam Webb:  What about Notre Dame?  Have the Irish offered you yet?

Jordan Walsh:  "No they haven't."

Sam Webb:  So what is Notre Dame saying to you about potentially joining that offer list?

Jordan Walsh:  "They actually haven't said anything much lately."

Sam Webb:  As far as visits go, I know you've made it to a lot of schools.  Do you plan on making it to any more over the summer?

Jordan Walsh:  "I really want to.  My schedule is going to be pretty packed with camps and summer school.  Hopefully, either at the beginning of the summer or during the end of the summer, hopefully I'll try to make more visits, West Coast, southern schools and eastern schools."

Sam Webb:  Are you going to be making it to Michigan's Elite Camp on Saturday?

Jordan Walsh:  "No I can't."

Sam Webb:  How many times have you been to Michigan already?

Jordan Walsh:  "I think I've been there twice now."

Sam Webb:  What are your impressions of the Wolverines now that you've been able to be there a couple of times?

Jordan Walsh:  "Definitely Ann Arbor is an amazing place to be.  Also, Michigan just has so much tradition there.  It's incredible all the…just everything about Michigan is really good.  The coaches are awesome.  The facilities are awesome. The fans are awesome.  The stadium, the academic centers are really great."

Sam Webb:  With what you saw from them on the football field, as far as their blocking scheme is concerned; did it seem like something that you could fit in to?

Jordan Walsh:  "I think so.  Because they've always been since Coach Rodriguez been up there that they've been a spread team, but they also run a good amount.  I like run blocking and I also like pass blocking.  There is a pretty good balance between running and also throwing as well."

Sam Webb:  I know Northwestern does a lot spread stuff as well.  I was read a comment of yours recently where you stated that you feel like the Wildcats are kind of recruiting you the hardest right now?

Jordan Walsh:  "Yes definitely."

Sam Webb:  How is that manifesting itself?  What do they do more than other schools to sort of show you that they are recruiting you harder?

Jordan Walsh:  "Just like Coach Fitz(gerald), Coach Cushing and Coach Johns and they are always in constant contact with me.  They've been to a few of my track meets.  We talked and I thought that was pretty cool.  It's easy for them because they are so much closer than everybody.  So I understand why other schools do not do that, but it was pretty cool."

Sam Webb:  Do you sort of have a timeframe of when you might narrow down your list?

Jordan Walsh:  "I do not.  Me and my mom and dad are just going to start this weekend and hopefully we can eliminate a few schools.  I know it is going to be hard but I have to do it."

Sam Webb:  If you could do a ballpark it, do you think you are going to cut it down to ten, five?  If you had to guess what do you think that you would do?

Jordan Walsh:  "Probably somewhere in the middle of that."

Sam Webb:  When you get ready to sit down and make your final decision, whenever that is; what do you think are going to be the most significant factor in your choice?

Jordan Walsh:  "Being comfortable with the campus, the coaches and the players.  Also the support that they are going to have for me, it is going to be very important to me.  That's basically it."

Sam Webb:  Do you have a timeline for when you'd like to make your final choice?

Jordan Walsh:  "I think everybody says that they want to get it over with and that's really good, but I really do not want to rush things.  It's probably going to be later in the year."

Sam Webb:  So you're probably going to take all five official visits then?

Jordan Walsh:  "I probably think I should, yeah."

Sam Webb:  Do you think you're going to make it back to Michigan??

Jordan Walsh:  "Oh definitely."
