I did a small bit of research on them since we will soon be conference mates and I knew nothing about them. I was very impressed. In their first season of FBS football just concluded, they finished 8-4 playing in the WAC and, in the final game of the season, they drew 39k to the Alamodome to watch them play Texas State. I had no idea.

And you would be wrong. UTSA is a sleeping giant. San Antonio is not a Miami. It is Texas pure and simple. If UTSA puts a good product on the field they will consistently draw well.
Not sure where I'd be wrong in my statement. I said I'd be "pleasantly surprised".
I've been there, worked on the campus for a bit even. Met plenty of students and was able to get out into the community. The most common impression that I got? "UTSA has sports?" and "What's an ootsa?"
i have family in san antonio and was just there a few months ago. this area of texas is such a sleeping giant its silly. if this team or texas state, which is very close to san antonio, ever get a top25 team they will probably sell 25,000 season tickets. san antonio is now the 8th largest city in the country. the hispanic population growth in these areas is retardly high. this is a good place to be. job market is incredible, too. probably moving to the area, but closer to austin, after'the new year
