Salters Speaks

For Homestead High School's Izaiah Salters, the next several months will be an exciting time. The rising senior is already making waves in the recruiting world, as evidenced by the fact that he's hearing from some of the top programs in the country. BlueRaiderZone recently sat down with Salters to discuss his recruitment so far.

Izaiah Salters Profile

"I'm hearing from Louisville, West Virginia, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Kansas State, Cincinnatti, Alabama and Michigan," Salters tells BRZ during a recent phone interview.

Although the speedy signal caller is hearing from so many programs, he's currently looking at a small selection of camp destinations this Summer.

"Right now I'm probably going to go to West Virginia and maybe Michigan's camps," he says. "Other than that, I don't really know yet."

The 5-11, 195 lb. quarterback is eyeing several factors when looking for a potential home, but there is one factor that is especially important to him: the offensive scheme.

"I'm looking for the type of program that fits me and my style of offense, which isn't a pro style offense," he says. "I really want an offense that I can do many things in."

Salters certainly has the ability to do many things in any scheme that would allow him the opporunity. At the end of the 2010 season, the athletic junior ended up 65 completions in a limited 110 attempts for just under a 60% completion rate. His 65 completed passes accounted for 650 yards and five touchdowns, too.

"I'd say my best attribute is definitely my decision making. I protect the ball really well," he says. "I really do. Most of the time, my incompletions came from trying to get the ball out of the pocket. I didn't necessarily have that much time, so I preferred to get rid of the ball rather than take the sack."

For now, Salters is just planning on constantly improving his speed, strength and skills in the upcoming months. As he does, more schools are likely to take notice and the scholarship offers should follow. Until then, keep it tuned to BlueRaiderZone for more on Izaiah as the recruiting season progresses.
