Mondie Talks Offers

After starring at Memphis Melrose for the past few seasons, Devin Mondie is making a change in 2011, heading to the Magnolia State to finish his high school career. He hopes that the transfer will allow him to stand out to more programs. He currently holds offers from hometown Memphis and in-state rival Middle Tennessee. Mondie sat down with BRZ to discuss his thoughts on both programs.

Middle Tennessee - I went to a camp when they were having a practice and that's how I got introduced to the coaches. My dad talks to the Memphis-area recruiter pretty often and after that they called my coach and said they were going to offer.

I really like MTSU. A close friend of mine goes there, but he doesn't play football. I think I fit in with the program lineman wise from what I've seen. I really like it. The facilities were okay. The weight room didn't impress me all that much, but I really liked the atmosphere and everything that was going on at practice with how the coaches interact with the players and everything.

Memphis - I really like Memphis. My brother is supposed to be going there. He signed with them and after a year of JuCo he's going to be going there. We're real close so I like them. I'm really looking strong at Memphis.

Mondie goes on to say that he's also hearing from Mississippi State and Tulane. He's hoping that the transfer to Olive Branch allows him to stand out with some of the bigger programs around the Southeast.

Keep it tuned to BRZ in the coming months for more on Devin.
