Reed talks recruiting

With three scholarship offers in-hand, Birmingham, Ala. defensive prospect Kalan Reed recently began his Summer camp tour at Middle Tennessee. BRZ caught up with him to see how it went and see what else is on the horizon for the 3-star cornerback.

Kalan Reed Profile

"It was really fun," says Reed of the recent Blue Raider camp. "I liked the coaches and how enthusiastic they were and the competition was good."

Reed put in a good day as Middle Tennessee coaches looked on. He reports that out of roughly 25 reps only four opposing receivers hauled in catches.

"I got to talk to Coach Watts, Coach Stockstill and Coach Ellis," he says, adding that those conversations went pretty well for the most part.

While the Blue Raiders have been on Reed heavy for the last few months, they aren't the only program talking to him. He reports that he's also hearing from Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arkansas State, South Alabama and Southern Miss. Out of those, Arkansas State, South Alabama and Southern Miss have offered.

The 5-11, 183 pound cornerback prospect has a few more stops lined up later this Summer. He'll be taking in camps at Southern Miss, Illinois and Tennessee before he shuts it down and starts preparing for his senior season.

"I'm going to be looking at the coaches and seeing if they could make me a better player," he says of what he'll be looking for as he visits each school. "Also, the campus and what they have to offer all around."

As it stands now, Reed doesn't have any favorites, instead insisting that he's keeping everybody even for now. He reports that he'll start ranking schools in the near future and hopes to announce his choice a little ahead of signing day. Until then, BRZ will be keeping in touch and keeping you up to speed with Kalan.
