Scouting: The Ragin Cajuns

# 19 MTSU returns home Sunday afternoon to take on the Ragin Cajuns.

After their last 5 of 6 on the road, the #19 ranked Blue Raiders of MTSU return to the friendly confines of the Glass House. They have a three game homestand that begins with a game against west division leading Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns. The Cajuns bring in a 17-5 record overall along with a 9-2 record in the conference. The Blue Raiders will get all the test they want in this game. Lafayette's two conference losses come against Arkansas State in overtime and Louisiana Monroe.

Who to watch

As a team, Louisiana Lafayette averages 68 points per game to go along with 37 rebounds per game. They are led by three players that average in double figures. Their leading scorer is 6'1" Senior forward Yolanda Jones. She averages 18 points per game along with 10 rebounds making Jones the leading rebounder also. Onna Charles is a 5'8" junior guard averaging 12 points per game. 5'5" senior guard Jeanenne Colbert averages 10 points to round out the top three. The Ragin Cajuns shoot 43% from the field and 33% from three point land. Their weakness comes in their turnovers. As a team, Louisiana Lafayette averages just under 20 turnovers a game.

The Blue Raiders are led by Chrissy Givens and Amber Holt. In order to win this game they must have a good game on the boards along with Brandi Brown. Middle Tennessee should be able to steal the ball at will, but must turn those steals into points in order to win this game. They must also protect from giving up the easy lay-up and too many second shots. If Jackie Pickel and Brandi Brown are on the stick early, this game should be well in hand by halftime. But if they are struggling, this could be a close one.
