The #19 ranked Lady Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee take on the Lady Pioneers from the University of Denver in the second of a three game homestand at Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, TN. This game should start out well but in the end, MTSU will prove to be too much for a University of Denver team that tends to turn the ball over.
Who to watch
The Pioneers as a team average 62 points per game. They are led by Tyesha Lowery and Sara Benham. Tyesha is a 5'6" junior guard averaging 12.6 points per game. Sara is a 6'0" junior forward averaging 10.7 points per game. As a team they average 37 rebounds per game and are led by Alisha Goddette at 5.5 rebounds per game. Alisha is a 6'0" junior guard. However, as a team, the Pioneers average almost 19 turnovers per game. That will be the downfall for this team.
For the Blue Raiders, Chrissy Givens and Amber Holt will continue to lead the way. They have been pivotal as Middle Tennessee begins to make their run to the end of the season and it will not stop here. Look for both girls to have a big game along with "Downtown" Brandi Brown. We will need Jackie Pickel and Johnna Abney to have good games as well. The star of this game could very well be Starr Orr. She has been all over the court and look for her to push the ball against a team that will have problems stacking up physically.
The Blue Raiders have been a slow starting team as of late and this is the perfect game to have a breakout. The Blue Raiders are seven games from the end of the season and with a tournament championship should secure a top five seed. Now is not the time to have a lull, and I guarantee that Head Coach Rick Insell and company will not allow that to happen.
