Alabama Receiver Picks Middle Tennessee

The Blue Raiders pick up their first commit for the 2009. The 6-2 speedy receiver from Alabama plans to make an immediate impact.

Arthur Williams, a 6-2, 171 lb receiver from Smiths, AL, became the first commit for the Blue Raiders in the 2009 class.

In a phone interview on Wednesday Williams informed that he plans to call Middle Tennessee home for his college career. Williams took an unofficial visit to Middle Tennessee on Saturday with his parents. He was impressed with the facilities. He told that "Middle Tennessee is a good fit for me. I really like the size of the university. It's not too big and it's not too small." He also indicated that he liked the size of Murfreesboro.

Another important factor for Williams is playing time. Williams has reportedly received interest from ACC and SEC schools including Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. He selected the Blue Raiders because he felt that he has a chance to play early.

Williams' strengths are his hands, route running, speed(4.5), and his ability to recognize defenses. He still plans on adding some muscle to his 171 lb. frame.

When asked about the coach recruiting him, Williams had nothing but praise for Middle Tennessee coach Brent Brock.

Williams has not attended a game at Floyd Stadium but he hopes to change that in the next few weeks.
