Sizing up the Tigers
Memphis returns seven position starters and seven seniors from their 2009 squad. In addition to experience, they also return two C-USA All-Freshmen: OF Drew Martinez and 2B Adam McClain. Additionally, sophomore southpaw Brennon Martin will make his second straight opening day start for the Tigers. He started last season off by earning a no-decision despite tossing six shuotout innings during which he gave up eight hits and struck out five.

Keeping the Streak Alive
Middle Tennessee looks to carry over their 2009 success against Memphis into the 2010 season. They won both matchups last season by a combined score of 36-7 during an early March series. Additionally, Middle Tennessee holds a one game lead in the all-time series which currently stands at 39-38. Head coach Steve Peterson personally holds a 33-30 record against Memphis. The last Blue Raider loss to the in-state foe was on April 23, 2007, when the Raiders dropped a 17-11 decision.

Starting Off Hot
The Blue Raiders have won four straight season openers, including last year's 19-4 opening day victory. Their last loss was against Ball State in 2005, when the Raiders lost by a final score of 7-4. Overall Middle Tennessee has a 17-19 record in season openers. Coach Peterson has led the team to an even 11-11 split on the first day of the season.

Bonus note: The last time Middle Tennessee opened the season against Memphis was in 1988, where they swept a two game series.
