Recruiting Update: James Lewis

Arlington High School's James Lewis has drawn interest from several in-state schools as well as a few West Coast power houses.

James Lewis Profile

"So far I've received a letter from Memphis, filled out a survey for Nebraska and gotten some letters from MTSU and Oregon," says the Arlington High School junior. Although he hasn't received any scholarship offers yet, he's been in touch with several schools from all over the country.

While he hasn't spoken to many coaches directly, Lewis says he knows that a few schools have been talking to his coach. He's also been to several camps so far and has plans for more in the future.

"I've gotten offers to the camps in Nebraska and Oregon, but I'm not going to sign up for those," he says. "I'm going to a camp in Nashville soon that's a national player recognition camp. I've been to the Memphis camp twice and I'm going to Junior Day where I get to meet the coach and the staff at the school this Saturday."

Memphis isn't the only in-state school that's gotten a visit from Lewis.

"I've been to a Middle Tennessee camp and talked to one of the assistants there," he says. "I talked to the line coach while I was there, too."

When it comes to choosing a school, Lewis isn't sure whether he wants to stay close to home or get away just yet.

"It really hasn't hit me yet as far as deciding whether I want to go across the country or stay close to home," he says.

So far the 6'5, 275 lb. offensive tackle isn't leaning toward any one school, but he will be sure to draw more interest during his senior season.
