Rohr Still Solidly Committed

"It's been a tough season for Minnesota but that doesn't change my commitment to Minnesota at all. I've had a chance to meet and talk with a lot of the 2011 commits and I'm really excited about our future together..."

While his future team, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, are off to a rough 1-6 start, commit Sam Rohr has led his Brookfield Central (Wis.) team to a 6-2 record overall and 4-2 in league play.

"It's been going great we have been playing some very sound football and we are going to be in the playoffs this year."

Rohr has helped his team on both sides of the ball this season, playing on the defensive line and making an impact on offensive at his future college position, tight end.

During the six league games the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has 17 receptions for 144 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

The Wisconsin native committed to the University of Minnesota in June and he continues to build a relationship with the Gopher staff. He says he talks to the coaching staff almost weekly and he talks to tight end coach Derek Lewis most often.

Rohr has seen the Maroon and Gold play twice this year and he has more visits planned.

"Yes I have I've been up there twice, once for the spring game and recently for the USC game. The USC game was not my official visit and I'll be up there again to see the Iowa and Ohio State game."

With each loss the Gophers suffer the talk of this being head coach Tim Brewster's last season at Minnesota gets louder. Does that concern the Gopher commit?

"Yes it does scare me slightly but it doesn't change my opinion about Minnesota. When I gave my verbal commitment I meant it, so Minnesota is where I want to stay. I'm coming to Minnesota to make a difference and put another Big Ten Championship trophy in the showcase. I'm hopeful the guys who have committed so far are as committed as I am in every sense of that word."
