Players to Watch: Penn State

The Gophers go into the game against Penn State with a 1-6 record with their loan win coming on the road in the season opener. With games against Ohio State and Iowa left at home, The Nittany Lions appear to be the best chance for the Gophers to get a home victory. Winning is essential for both teams. Each team has a guy who could swing the momentum in their favor at any time.

MarQueis Gray is always a popular pick for players to watch but has been held to less-than stellar games during his last three outings. During his last three games he has a total of four receptions for just 21 yards. As explosive as Gray is, it is would astounding to see Gray have another bad game. With the departure of Tim Brewster, Coach Jeff Horton has promised some more gambles in the offensive scheme.

With this in mind Gray is the obvious choice being that he is the Gophers' most dynamic player. Don't be surprised to see Gray in variety of ways, running catching and possibly throwing the ball. Gray is long overdue for another big game and need his spark more than ever.

The mad who has the best chance of shutting down the Gophers is senior linebacker Chris Colasanti. Colasanti has been dominant this season on the Nittany Lions defense. He has racked up 59 total tackles, 21 of them solo, to go with four tackles for a loss.

The 6-foot-2, 241-pound linebacker has a serious knack for finding the ball and making the tackle. The Gopher offense but be aware of Colasanti at all teams if they want to avoid being eaten up by him and the rest of the Nittany Lions defense.
