Ralph Sampson III

On his inside/outside game…
"It kinda started last year, trying to step out to open up the inside for my counterpart big man (Colton Iverson). Also, it was a team effort, as far as swinging the ball and I just happened to be in the open area at the right time. But also, because of that, having to be smart with the ball, as well, to turn down shots that you could hit and find someone who has a better shot."

On having more freedom to take more chances with increased depth in the front court…
"I feel a lot more free this year. If teams look to focus on Colton or (myself), we also have the aggressive and athletic Trevor Mbakwe, as well. If they try to double team one of us, I feel like we are all three great passers."

On camaraderie and team building…
"I think the Canada trip really helped, because we have six newcomers. That trip to Canada really helped us become a team. We all hang out. We're all cool. It's like a big family and that's what coach preaches. I look at everybody like they're my brothers."

On first points being a slam dunk...
"I felt like a new person out there. It was great. My first play; my first points as a Gopher were a dunk. It was just crazy."
