Sophomore linebacker Keanon Cooper matched a career-best and recorded a season-high with 10 total tackles vs. Ohio State last week. Cooper had six solo stops and four assists vs. the Buckeyes. He has now moved into the No. 3 spot on the team, with a total of 51 tackles. Cooper has also added three tackles-for-loss and a pass break-up.
Fullback Jon Hoese won't be ready for this week but he should be ready for next week if he keeps on his path to get healthy. Fullback Ed Cotton could be one player who sees increased playing time with Hoese out.
One of the Gopher tight ends may also see time in the backfield at the fullback position. It his happens, tight end Tiree Eure might get on the field more. Eure made his second catch of the season last game and he appears to be adjusting better to the speed of the game each week.
Donnell Kirkwood will miss this week again with a leg injury.
Kendall Gregory-McGhee will be the starter at defensive end. He will most likely start opposite of DL Whilhite.
Anthony Jacobs will move inside from his strong side defensive end position to defensive tackle. He will likely get the start in the place of Brandon Kirksey who will be serving a suspension.
