Minnesota added their third JUCO player this month Tuesday when tight end John Rabe gave a verbal commitment to be a Gopher. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end was previously committed to NIU but decided to follow coach Jerry Kill and his staff to Minnesota when he got an offer. Rabe is the 20th commitment in the Minnesota class for 2011.
As a freshman last fall, Rabe grabbed 25 receptions for 488 yards and two touchdowns and this season he was just as productive hauling in 46 receptions for 487 yards and two touchdowns.
Ohio recently extended an scholarship to the 6-4 tight end but an offer to follow coach Jerry Kill and his staff and Gopher was too much to pass up.
John Rabe will enroll at Minnesota in January and have three years to play two in the Maroon and Gold.
