Minnesota, Oyenuga Part Ways

Rowlett (TX) cornerback Samuel Oyenuga is no longer committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The 6-foot-0, 162-pounder has parted ways with the new head coach Jerry Kill and his staff.

Oyenuga committed to the Gophers and former head coach Tim Brewster over the summer. When Brewster was fired the Texas corner back decided to look around at other options while staying committed to Minnesota.

He flirted with SMU but never received an offer from the in-state Mustangs.

When head coach Jerry Kill took over he focused his recruiting efforts on other defensive back prospects.

The parting between the Minnesota staff and Oyenuga appears to be mutual.

With the loss of Oyenuga look for the Gophers to pursue Pikerington (OH) prospect Tamani Carter and Miramar (FL) athlete Steve Montgomery to fill a cornerback slot.
