David Cobb Signs NLI to Minnesota

University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill has announced the signing of Killeen (Tx.) running back David Cobb to a national letter of intent.

"David is a great get for us," head coach Jerry Kill said in a press release today. "He's a three-year starter for Killeen Ellison. I know that program and that's hard to do there. He's also a two-year starter as the shooting guard on the basketball team.

"We really like David's athleticism and his character. He's got good size and thickness to him. Plus, he has good speed. He's a 10.7 guy in the 100. He could help us in a couple different areas."

Cobb chose Minnesota over offers from Memphis, Stanford, North Texas, Army and the Gopher coaching staff was a big reason why.

"The coaching staff is great," Cobb said. They are honest and fun to be around. They really just welcomed me and appreciate me as an athlete and a person.

"The facilities are awesome and I really can't see myself playing anywhere else besides Minnesota."

Cobb grew up watching—and patterns his game after—a former Gopher great and current Dallas Cowboy.

"I'd consider myself as a guy with speed but really a downhill, powerful running back—very similar to Marion Barber."
