Julian Welch Ready for Minnesota Visit

While waiting for his flight to the Twin Cities, JUCO point guard recruit Julian Welch got the unfortunate news that his flight was canceled, delaying his visit to Minnesota. Despite the hindrance, Welch is still looking forward to his time at the U of M.

"Yea I'm pretty excited to visit Minnesota and catch the game atmosphere on Sunday," the 6-foot-3 Marysville (Calif.) Yuba College point guard said.

Coach Tubby Smith watched Welch play two weeks in California. Welch said of the game, "It went real good. He really likes my game."

Welch, who played two seasons—one of which was a redshirt year at UC Davis prior to transferring to Yuba—has attracted the attention of other schools as well.

"My top three right now are Utah, Minnesota and Kent St.," Welch said.

Welch was hit with bad news when he found out this afternoon that his flight to Minnesota was canceled. He is hoping to catch another flight to Minnesota and should still be in town for Minnesota's game against Penn State.
