Prep Career

Matt Larson was named honorable mention to the South Suburban all-conference team. During his junior campaign Larson total 97 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 2 pass break-ups and 1 forced fumble.

While on his visit during the Minnesota junior day, Larson was able to tour the facilities and meet with the coaching staff. Coach Kill also spoke about how the new program, their small town way of coaching and they types of people he has on his coaching staff.

What was his favorite part of the trip? "I just thought it was cool being at the University of Minnesota and how it would be sweet to go there. Just going to the U was pretty cool."

Once he receives the spring practice schedule Larson plans on attending a spring practice and then will attend the spring and summer camps.

When asked what some of the major factors will be when it comes time to make his decision Larson replied, "Wherever is the best place I can go, whoever has the best team. I don't really know what I want to do in college right now so football is the only thing that I'm looking at right now."

Because of back surgery last year Larson was not able to do any squat exercises for over a year, so in the offseason he plans on working on his squats and speed. This year was also the first time that he had not participated in basketball which he had done in previous years. He will also be playing lacrosse this spring. Larson has not been invited to any other junior days but hopes interest will pick up as the year progresses.
