Deionte Buckley is a 5-foot-8, 190-pound back from Indianapolis who has been receiving a lot of attention recently. Earlier this month he picked up his first offer from Cincinnati, which he visited later that week.
Along with the offer, Buckley has been attracting the interest of other programs. He has been hearing from, "Basically all the Big Ten school, a lot from Iowa, a lot from Indiana and also Ball State."
When asked about his communication with the Gophers' staff he responded, "I haven't, but I think my coaches have."
It appears the Minnesota staff is looking at Warren Central High School as a possible hotbed of talent. Besides showing some interest in Buckley, the Gophers have also offered his teammates, defensive linemen Jonathan Burt and Sheldon Day.
Despite amassing over 1000 yards as a junior—as one of two featured running backs— Buckley continues to work tirelessly in order to make the jump to the college level.
"I've been really speed training just getting faster. Also, I stay in the weight room each and every day," said Buckley when asked what he has been working on this offseason.
This work ethic will surely get Buckley more attention in the coming weeks and months, providing him with more college options.
"First I'm looking for academic support. [Also,] I'm looking for comfort. Somewhere I can really feel at home," said Buckley when asked about what he is looking for in a college.
