Hayes attended practice with his mother—who could already tell a difference in coaching styles between the Brewster regime and Jerry Kill's staff.
"[My mom] liked it a lot," he said. "She was at a practice when coach Brewster was there and she can tell a huge difference in the coaching."
The 6-foot-2, 265-pound lineman already has plans to visit Minnesota again.
"I plan on coming out next Saturday when they have pads on and can hopefully get outside," he explained.
Hayes claims offers from Minnesota and nine other programs across the country. While the Gophers will battle to keep the St. Thomas Academy prospect in state, the hometown team certainly made an impression.
"I definitely like what is happening to this program," he said.
