Jonathan Harden Lands Offer

Saint Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham Hall defensive tackle Jonathan Harden landed his first scholarship offer. Find out which team extended the offer and what he thought of Minnesota's spring practice.

"I liked the intensity and the speed of practice," Harden said. "I didn't get a chance to talk with Coach Kill today but the Gopher community is excited about him so he must be doing something right. I'm excited to get to know him.

"[My Father] also liked it a lot. He likes the new feel around the U of M. He is very excited for this upcoming season."

While 6-foot, 300-pounder didn't get to talk with the Gopher head coach, he was able to watch and learn from his would-be position coach, Jeff Phelps.

"Coach Phelps puts a very big emphasis about being low on the defensive line," he said. "So I just learned that I should work more on that."

Although the hometown Gophers have yet to extend an offer to the talented defensive tackle, Harden recently landed his first scholarship offer.

"I just received a verbal [offer] from North Dakota," he said.

The Fighting Sioux aren't the only team pursuing the Cretin-Derham Hall lineman.

"Wyoming recently came in," Harden said. "I also just received a junior day invite from UNI and a couple handwritten [letters] from Michigan and Michigan State.

Harden said he plans to attend the Minnesota spring game on April 23.
