Mollberg completed 57 of 105 passes for 1,060 yards and seven touchdowns. Had also added 1,040 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns on 173 carries. For his efforts he was named All-State Honorable Mention and Pioneer Press All-State Honorable Mention. As a sophomore Mollberg passed for over 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns.
"Recruiting is good," Mollberg said. "I have offers from NDSU, UND, and SDSU. My other top schools would be NIU, South Dakota, Air Force and Toledo. So far just NDSU has called me."
Mollberg, who plans to major in education and coaching in college, has visited all three schools that have offered—most recently UND.
"I visited UND last Saturday," he said. "All the coaches seem great. Each school has what I'm looking for in education. I've grown up being an NDSU and UND fan so that's a plus."
Although the 6-foot-2, 207-pounder grew up a fan of the Bison and Fighting Sioux he is also very familiar with the University of Minnesota.
"I have been to three or four visits for games and a couple of one-day camps," he explained.
Where do the Gophers stand on Mollberg's list of favorites?
"They were my number one school but they signed Philip Nelson so I think I'm basically out with them," he said.
Mollberg is not participating in a sport this spring so he is preparing for his senior season by throwing, lifting weights and running. He noted that speed was the one aspect of his game he was hoping to improve before fall camp.
