Fleming Enjoys Gopher Visit

As the Gophers took the field for last regular spring practice, they were being watched by a handful of potential recruits. One such player was athlete Maurice Fleming of Curie Metropolitan High School (Ill.). Fleming chatted GoldenSports.net about his visit to Minnesota.

Fleming, a 5-foot-11 athlete out of Chicago was on the Gophers' campus yesterday, taking in practice.

"It was a visit where me and my teammate Vaughn King Jr. had fun and felt like we were at home already," said Fleming of his time at Minnesota.

After such a great visit, what stuck out to Fleming as his favorite part?

"Sitting down with coach [Jerry] Kill talking with him and what he has to offer," he said. "Also, him showing me and Vaughn, and my head coach [Tyson] Leblanc around the whole entire school and facility."

Many recruits have been impressed with Coach Kill as a person and a coach—Fleming was no different.

"My impressions on Coach Kill were very strong," he said. "He would love to have me graduate a semester early for next year and play for him, and he'll take good care of me.

"We both love to win," Fleming added.

The Chicago speedster noted one of Jerry Kill's philosophies as a coach.

"Coach Kill loves speed so Minnesota is going to be back on the top in no time," Fleming said.

Even after a great visit to Minnesota, Fleming plans to take his recruitment slow and go on official visits. He added that he will definitely return to Minnesota in the fall to take in a game at TCF Bank Stadium.

So where do the Gophers rank for Fleming after Thursday's visit?

"Indiana is first and Minnesota is right there with them," he said.
