Westerkamp Reflects on Minnesota Visit

Lombard Montini (Ill.) wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp visited the Minnesota Gophers' spring game this past weekend. GoldenSports.net was able to catch up with him and get his impression of his visit.

"It was great, I ended up getting there Friday and we went over to the stadium and watched film with Coach Zebrowski for about an hour," Westerkamp said. "The next day we got a little bit more of a tour and got to meet with Coach Poore."

"We got to spend some time on the field, we were on the field for about the first hour. Just watching the spring game they were doing things pretty good. I liked how they were doing things—MarQueis was throwing the ball pretty good."

"I liked how their offense was going they were throwing the ball, as a wide receiver you have to like that. It was great and I thought it was pretty good," he said of the spring game.

What was his favorite part of the trip?

"Just coming out of the tunnel onto the field the atmosphere it's crazy the college atmosphere it's nuts," he said. "You have a field like Minnesota, it's unbelievable, their field is awesome."

Westerkamp has been very busy this spring making trips around the Midwest and visiting the schools that have offered him. This next weekend he plans on visiting Michigan State and after that he said he will be gone pretty much every weekend for the next two months.

He has been told by the staff that he does not need to come up for any of the summer camps. Westerkamp hopes to start whittling down his top schools sometime this summer.
