Johnson Puts Minnesota in "Top-Four"

One of the top recruits at the Gophers' spring game was Jaleel Johnson of Lombard Montini Catholic High School (Ill.). Johnson holds an offer from Minnesota and enjoyed his time in the Twin Cities. GoldenSports.net has Johnson's response to his recent visit.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive tackle was happy to have made a visit to the Gophers. "Overall, I'm glad I made the trip down there," said Johnson. "I never knew Minnesota was that great of a place until I actually visited them."

What stuck out to Johnson about his trip to Minnesota? "A lot of things," he said. "For one all the coaching staff is from Illinois which made me feel comfortable knowing that the entire staff is from the same area I'm from and also they're [a] new coaching staff."

Johnson went on to add that, "Coach Kill [is] from Northern Illinois, [he] will do a great job with them, [the Gophers] so that's what stuck out the most."

Johnson was on campus for the Gophers' spring game and liked what he saw from the Maroon and Gold. "Players and coaches had high energy from snap to snap, especially Coach Kill," said Johnson.

"He gets into the players face which is always a good thing, you don't find to many coaches like that," Johnson said of Jerry Kill

Johnson's teammate Jordan Westerkamp made the trek to Minnesota as well. Both Johnson and Westerkamp are thinking about committing to the same school. "We have been talking about it," said Johnson.

After his visit to the Twin Cities, what are the top schools on Johnson's list? "Now, Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa [and] Wisconsin," said Johnson.
