Badgers, Gophers Visit Anyanwu

Elk River (Minn.) Blaine athlete Duke Anyanwu is still waiting for his first offer but two Big Ten rivals are showing heavy interest.

What college coaches have stopped by to see you this spring?
"Air Force, Wisconsin, NDSU, UND, and U of M have stopped by to see me so far."

What did the Wisconsin coaches have to say?
"They said they really like what they saw—I organize a captains practice every Tuesday and Thursday—and they want to get me on campus for camp so I can work with the quarterback coach and see about offers from there."

Is Wisconsin recruiting you as a quarterback or an athlete?
"They didn't say officially. But my guess would be athlete."

Who came to visit you from Minnesota and what did they have to say?
"It was Coach Reeves and he just reiterated that they love what they see on film they just need to see me in person throwing and catching and what not. Then if they like what they see, offer talks should start up. He also said I'm high on the priority list."

Did you grow up a Gopher fan and would you like to stay instate?
"Well I was born in California actually so I didn't really always know about the Gophers growing up. I was born in El Monte and lived in Orange County and Lawndale. I moved to Minnesota in 2004. After being here for a while though you start to really appreciate and love the Gophers. Staying instate would be nice but I'm also open to all opportunities."
