Gerald Thomas Talks Maroon and Gold Offer

One of the main recruiting areas for the Gophers this cycle has been the wide receiver position. With a number of offers out right now and one commitment already, Minnesota is looking to add depth. One receiver who recently earned a Gopher offer is Gerald Thomas of The Colony High School (Tx.).

Thomas is 5-foot-10 speedster who shows great acceleration to go with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. This athleticism has earned Thomas a handful of offers as well as interest from many BCS programs.

"My recruitment is going really good," said Thomas. "I have seven offers right now from Kansas, Boise State, UTEP, Minnesota, Arizona State, New Mexico State and Colorado," he added.

Thomas says that the Broncos of Boise State are his early leader. "I like their high-powered offense and how they scheme the heck out everyone," Thomas said of Boise State.

"Their coaching staff seems really cool, I talk with them a lot," Thomas added.

Thomas is enjoying the recruiting process as a whole and is honored by the interest he is receiving.

"It's really exciting to know that colleges in other states know who you are and are willing to offer you," he said.

One of his most recent out-of-state scholarship offers has come from the University of Minnesota.

"Coach Moore came by the school and watched my whole practice then after he said they were offering," said Thomas.

"I was really excited because they're a good school and play in a BCS conference," he said of receiving an offer from Minnesota.

Does Thomas plan on taking a visit to the Twin Cities in the future? "I think I'm going to use one of my official visits on Minnesota," said Thomas.
