Harris Nearing Offer From Gophers

With a handful of offers to defensive ends already out, the Gophers still have their eyes on more help on the line. One player the Gophers have been in contact with is Tylor Harris of Episcopal High School (La.). GoldenSports.net had the chance to chat with Harris about his developing recruitment.

Harris is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is a player who has seen a recent jump in his recruitment. "It's crazy," he said of the recruiting process. "It just gives me motivation to work harder."

This work ethic has caught the eye of a number of schools including Memphis, Western Kentucky, Tulane and others who have offered Harris a scholarship. His newest offer, and first from the Big Ten, came on Monday from the Wildcats of Northwestern.

"I got an offer from Northwestern University today and I'm going to see Georgia Tech and they're [most likely] going to offer," said Harris.

He has also had increasing interest from a number of top programs. "Stanford and Alabama have started to grow interest in me as well," Harris said.

Another school that could be on the verge of offering Harris is the University of Minnesota. "Coach Sawvel said he's going to try and get me and offer before the end of the month," said Harris.

Harris does not plan on committing until his senior season and says he is weighing all of his options carefully.
