Jimmy Holmes Talks Minnesota Offer

The Minnesota Gophers coaches made their way down to South Carolina to watch the final spring practice for Silver Bluff High School. And out of that visit two Bulldogs came away with Gopher offers. GoldenSports.net was able to talk with one of those offerees, linebacker Jimmy Holmes.

"They came down and watched the last day of spring practice here and that was the first time I ever talked to them and they offered," Holmes said. "Coach Zebrowski told me they were going to call me back in two more weeks and let me know about everything, coming to camp, visiting and watching some football games."

Did Holmes know much about the Minnesota program prior to being offered?

"The offer was out of the blue and I didn't even know who they were at first, I was just happy to see someone recruiting me," he said. "I was doing my drills and then I look back and I see the coach has his phone out recording me."

Holmes stated that some of his main factors will be depth at his position, academics, a winning record and I have to like the staff and the players. During the offseason he plans to work on his speed and working on my pursuit angles.

He also holds an offer from Georgia Tech but said that there are a lot of other schools showing heavy interest such as: Florida, North Carolina State, Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina.

Along with Holmes teammate Cordrea Tankersley also picked up an offer. There is a possibility that both end up at the same school for college.

"Yeah we've been talking about playing together ever since we got into high school," he said.
