Michaelson said he has seen his recruiting stock rise with teams such as Arizona, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin have shown him the most interest. A few teams may be on the verge of offering the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder.
"Coaches have talked about scholarships and what it will take to earn one. Arizona is very close to offering and Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Illinois also seem pretty close to offering," he said. "Wisconsin told me that I'm going for one spot and there are other guys competing for that same spot so I will be battling it out with them for that offer. Minnesota is the same way where I'm going to come in and perform really well to get an offer."
There are other schools that have started to take interest in Michaelson but have decided to wait until they see his senior tape because he will not be able to attend their camps.
Teams such as Michigan State, Missouri, and Washington State have all been talking with Michaelson but have told him he is around the middle of their linebacker recruiting boards. He added that the teams that are close to offering have him as a top five or top 10 linebacker on their boards.
When asked if he had any favorites Michaelson responded, "Right now my favorites are the teams that have shown the most interest in me so far. In no particular order I would say Arizona, Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa."
Michaelson is in no rush to make a decision. "I think that I will probably make a decision after my senior season is over," he said. "It depends on what the schools start to say and what all goes on, but right now I think I will decide after the season."
