Gophers Land No. 4

Scout.com and GoldenSports.net have confirmed that the Minnesota Golden Gophers landed their fourth commitment for the 2012 class when Miami Central (Fla.) linebacker Joshua Ballesteros decided to don the Maroon and Gold.

"Yes it is," Ballesteros told GoldenSports.net when asked if it was true he committed. "I committed this evening after a hard days work."

Ballesteros, who received an offer from Minnesota roughly two weeks ago, called his future position coach Bill Miller tonight with the good news.

"He was ecstatic," Ballesteros said of how Coach Miller responded.

Ballesteros chose the Gophers over Western Michigan for a few reasons.

"I like the atmosphere," he said. I like the defense. Me and Coach Miller have a well put together relationship. I've been watching Minnesota for a few years now."

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder will play middle linebacker for the Gophers. He described himself as a player by saying, "I bring discipline and adrenaline. I feel that no one can beat me on the field.

"When I get to a college team I won't be a leader or anything but I'll bring the work ethic—whatever needs to be done I'll put in the work."

The Gophers' newest commit said he will visit Minnesota in June or early August. While he has no definite plans yet he said he will "most likely" visit Minneapolis again this fall for an official visit.
