Since that initial meeting Harden says that he's stayed in touch with the coaching staff on a regular basis, calling Coach Miller about once or twice a week.
Harden holds an offer from Vanderbilt and may be closing in on an offer from North Carolina as well, depending on how well he does at camp. "North Carolina wants me to come up for a camp and then they will decide if they want to offer or not depending on how well I do," he explained.
Along with the North Carolina camp he has already attended a camp at Miami and plans on attending a couple more over the summer.
He also plans on making a trip to Minnesota for an unofficial visit this summer. The coaching staff has been talking with him about making an official visit during the football season. Harden explained what factors he will use to evaluate each school.
"I'm looking for a good academic program that will help me out in school with great tutors," he said. "I'm also looking for a great athletic facility and a great coaching staff that really care about you."
How much did Harden about Gophers program and the University of Minnesota before they started contacting him?
"Last year I actually had to do research project on two or three schools that I would really like to go to and Minnesota was one of them," he said. "Minnesota is actually a school that I would really like to go to."
Harden is in no rush to make a commitment. "I'd like to make a commitment around mid to late November," he said. "Right now I don't want to make a commitment too early."
Over the offseason Harden plans to work on his explosion, becoming more flexible, becoming quicker, smoother turning his hips and working in the weight room.
The Gophers have also offered Harden's teammate defensive tackle Jean-Marc Charles. Harden said the two have talked about attending college together at the same school and Minnesota appears to have a legitimate shot at landing both.
"We talk a lot about Minnesota," he said. "I feel right now that Minnesota is probably both of our top schools."
