Gophers in Top 2 for Texas Defensive Back

Fort Bend Marshall (Texas) cornerback John Gibson currently holds seven offers with one of the most recent coming from Minnesota. GoldenSports.net was able to catch up with the talented defensive back to talk about his recruitment.

When and how did Minnesota come to offer you?
"Coach Sawvel came down for one of our spring practices and watched us practice. And then a few weeks after that he called and offered at the beginning of June."

Has the staff had a lot of contact with you?
"I've talked to Coach Sawvel over the phone but mostly we talk over Facebook."

What are you looking for in a school?
"I'm looking for a school where I can get a lot of early playing time. I'm also looking for a school that has good tutors that can help me with the academic part of college."

What are you plans for camps over the summer?
"I haven't really narrowed them down, so I've been working out at school in the weight room. I haven't sat down and decided on what ones I would like to attend yet."

Do you plan on taking any unofficial visits over the summer?
"No, I think I'm going to wait until the season starts and take official visits then."

What do you plan on working on during the off-season?
"I plan on running cone drills to work on getting out of my breaks better and breaking on the ball better."

What other teams have offered you so far and do you have a leader at this point?
"Right now I have offers from Arkansas, Minnesota, Wyoming, Western Michigan, San Diego State, Indiana and Vanderbilt. As of right now my top two teams would have to be Arkansas and Minnesota"

Do you know when you might want to make a decision?
"I'd like to make a decision probably around mid to end of July. I would really like to have made a decision before my season starts."
