Johnson Reflects on Camp Experience

Eastview (Minn.) offensive tackle Zack Johnson attended the University of Minnesota's Big Man Camp and Friday's camp under the lights. GoldenSports.net was able to catch up with him and discuss his performance at the camps as well as his plans for the summer.

How was the camp on Saturday?
"It was good, I had fun at the camp. I'm a little disappointed I didn't perform as well at the Minnesota camp as I had at the Northern Illinois camp."

What type of drills did they have you run and did you have any one-on-one time with the coaches?
"No one really got any one-on-one time with the coaches. They had us working on our form and technique for run and pass blocking a lot to start out. Then after that we did a lot of one on one type drills."

Did you receive much feedback from the coaching staff?
"Coach Limegrover told me that I did well and that my form was improving from what they had seen on my tape."

What was your experience at the camp under the lights last Friday?
"I got more reps and there were less kids there so the coaches could get a better look at me. I feel that I performed much better at this camp than at the Big Man Camp."

What was it like working with the staff in a smaller setting?
"I felt it was better because everything flowed through a lot better and you weren't stuck standing around waiting to get reps."

What kind of feedback did you get after this camp?
"Mostly they said that they will be discussing and reviewing the camps over the next few weeks and that they will get back to me."

What other camps have you been to so far?
"I went to Northern Illinois last Wednesday. And then I went to camp at Nebraska. Nebraska was good but there were a lot of kids there and didn't get much of a chance in the one on one drills."

Do you plan on attending any more camps this summer?
"North Dakota State will be having a one day camp in July and I think I might go up there for that camp."

Is there any school that seems close to offering?
"Northern Illinois is showing a lot of interest I think they might be close to offering soon. I'm really looking forward to getting an offer from them."
