7-0 center Mike Kinsella may be on Gophers' radar

7-0 center Mike Kinsella, who redshirted this past season at Rice, will transfer to Minneapolis (MN) Technical and Community College. He was an All-State selection by the Associated Press, Pioneer Press and Minnesota Basketball News as a senior after averaging 21.2 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game for Rochester (MN) John Marshall. He led the Rockets to a 17-6 record and Big Nine conference championship playing alongside Longar Longar.

Mike Kinsella had played with the Minnesota Glory AAU team. He will play one season with MCTC and have three years at a Division I school. MCTC head coach Jay Pivec feels that Kinsella's recruitment could wind up similar to sophomore forward Andy Hannah, who played as a freshman at Binghamton before returning home. He wound up signing with UNLV after a strong sophomore campaign. Pivec expects schools like Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Marquette to recruit the 7-0 center.
