Clax currently holds offers from Minnesota, Arizona State, Rutgers and Temple but could be adding more with teams waiting to see some of his senior highlights.
"Maryland is really close to offering," he said. "A lot of schools like Michigan State, Miami, Stanford, and Boston College want to see the first three games of my senior season. So I will be working to get tapes to those schools as soon as possible so they can make their decision on if they want to pull the trigger and offer me or not."
As it sits right now Clax says that the Gophers are his leader, because of the conference and the distance from home.
"I just talked to Coach Phelps a couple days ago and right now the Gophers are the number one school on my list," Clax said. "With them they play in the Big Ten conference and they play the likes of Ohio State and teams like that. Also it's farther away from home, and that's definitely something I want to get used to and getting out there to meet new people."
The Gophers staff has also talked to him about how he fits into their defensive system.
"They run a 4-3 defense and that suits me well," he said. "Right now I run a 3-3-5 but in the 4-3 I'll be more protected so that will let me to makes plays and fill the gaps."
Clax explained what he is doing this summer to prepare for the upcoming season.
"This off-season I've been working on my speed, agility strength and getting bigger to get ready to play at the next level," Clax said. "I'm also preparing for my season I really want to go out on a high note and win another state championship."
What kind of player should fans of his future team expect to see at the collegiate level?
"I'm a good hard-nosed player who studies the game well," he said. "I'm good at diagnosing plays, figuring out where the play is going and then stepping up and making plays."
Clax also said he would like to start making visits in late August to early September and hopes to make a decision sometime around the end of his season.
