Ippolito Talks Gopher Camp

One of the top performers from Jerry Kill's recent senior camp was defensive lineman Michael Ippolito. Ippolito took the time to talk to GoldenSports.net about his recent visit to the Twin Cities.

Ippolito is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound lineman out of Naperville, Illinois. He has seen interest from a number of schools around the Midwest and holds offers from schools such as Northern Illinois, Akron and Bowling Green among others.

These schools have been recruiting Ippolito the most.

"I have been recruited hard by most of the schools that I have already received scholarship offers," he said.

Although he already has a number of offers, Ippolito is still working on earning more options for his recruitment.

"My recruitment has been going good," he said. "I have received a lot of offers from the MAC schools and a couple of offers from Division 1AA schools also. I'm just hitting the Big Ten schools right now with camping and unofficial visits."

One of the schools he has recently visited is the University of Minnesota, where he camped.

"I was really impressed with the coaching staff and I am very interested in the program," he said of his visit. "They said that they were very interested in me. We will see what the future holds."

Along with working with Jeff Phelps on lineman drills, the Gophers also tried Ippolito out at tight end.

"It was the first time I have ever worked out at tight end and I felt like it could be a good fit and on the other side of the ball. It felt like an old shoe. I am very comfortable at that position."

With plenty of schools interested, Ippolito knows what he wants to find in his future college.

"Great coaching, great academics, nice facilities, winning attitude, and a family-based team mentality," he said.
