Perry Has Gophers Out Front

Dakota Perry attended a Minnesota camp earlier this summer and now lists the Gophers as one of his top schools. Although he currently does not hold an offer from the Maroon and Gold, it is something he hopes for in the future.

Perry is a 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle out of Capac, Michigan. He is a versatile athlete who knows what he can bring to a college team.

"I think I could bring a type of underdog leadership," he said. "I just try to work as hard as I can every play or rep."

Perry does not currently hold any offers but has been in touch with a number of schools.

"I have no offers," he said. "Minnesota spoke with me when I attended their camp, and said they'd like me to lose some weight and get a little quicker. 295 was their ideal weight and I'm hovering over 300 so hopefully it all works out."

Perry's interest in Minnesota increased after his camp.

"I like Minnesota a lot," he said. "They coaching staff is a great group of guys."

Perry lists the Gophers as his top school at the moment.

"It goes Minnesota, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Indiana," said Perry of his favorites.

An offer from the Gophers is something that Perry is looking for and believes might happen later in the cycle.

"I think so," said Perry when asked if he thought Minnesota will offer him. "They said they don't give out scholarships fast. They like to go long term."
