WVU Commit Enjoys Minnesota Visit

Although already committed to West Virginia, speedy Florida wide receiver Devonte Robinson decided to take an official visit to Minnesota this weekend. Robinson is still committed to the Mountaineers but thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Twin Cities.

Robinson, a 6-foot-1 receiver out of Delray Beach (Fla.) committed to West Virginia in mid-July and wasn't planning on taking a visit to Minnesota until earlier this week.

"I didn't plan on it, going to Minnesota," he said. "It was like a last-minute thing. Tuesday of last week I got a call from Coach asking me if I wanted to come up and stuff. I didn't plan on it but you have five visits so why not take them."

Robinson took his first official visit this weekend and stayed busy while in the Twin Cities. "Friday, I just got picked up from the airport then met with some of the players," he said. "Then met with the coaches. Saturday, woke up and got something to eat, toured the city a little bit, came back, toured the football field."

While touring TCF Bank Stadium, Robinson found his favorite part of his visit.

"My favorite thing, I would say, is the football locker room," he said. "It's shaped like a football, it's big."

Another thing that Robinson enjoyed was his interaction with the Minnesota coaching staff.

"I had talked to mainly all of the coaches," he said. "I just sat down and talked with them about school, about my future, about what school I'm going to go to."

At the Gophers' game against NDSU, Robinson had the opportunity to interact with current 2012 commits prior to kickoff.

"It was good just getting to know new people and see how they feel and what they think about Minnesota," he said.

Once the game started, Robinson was enthralled with the play.

"I loved going to the game," he said. "The atmosphere, the fans, everybody was so nice. The game was just amazing just being there."

While watching the Gophers play, Robinson saw how he could fit into Minnesota's offense.

"I thought I could fit in really good at the receiver position, just seeing the numbers at receiver and seeing how they do things."

Despite a great visit to Minnesota, Robinson says he is still committed to West Virginia.

"As of right now I'm still committed to West Virginia," he said. "Anything could happen but I'm still kind of high on West Virginia."

Robinson will take an official visit to the Mountaineers in two weeks.

"As of right now, I'm going to West Virginia versus UCONN on the eighth of October," he said.
