2013 Intro: Nicholas Halmon

One school that the Minnesota coaching staff stopped by this spring to check out the talent was Bamberg-Ehrhardt in Bamberg, South Carolina. One of the players who caught their eye was 2013 defensive back Nicholas Halmon.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School has plenty of talent on its roster. The school has 2012 prospects Martin Aiken (Clemson commit), David Deleon (Miami of Ohio commit), and Demetrius Williams (offers from Illinois, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, and Miami of Ohio).

The Red Raiders also have one of the nation's best 2014 prospects in Kevin Crosby Jr. who already has offers from Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, North Carolina, and others. One prospect that has been overshadowed by his teammates is 2013 safety Nicholas Halmon.

"I'm a fast player," Halmon said when asked to describe his strengths as a player. "I just read and react to the game. I have a nose for the football."

Because of his nose for the ball, Halmon is the second leading tackler and has caused three forced fumbles on a Red Raider team that is off to a 6-1 start this season.

Although Halmon doesn't have any offers yet, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia, Duke, Clemson, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Miami of Ohio, and Minnesota are all teams showing interest.

Halmon said he is getting, "plenty of emails and mail from Minnesota." The junior prospect claims he doesn't know much about Minnesota at this point but he plans to sit down and research schools sometime soon.

Halmon said his favorite schools growing up were Virginia Tech and Clemson but he, "does not have any favorites at this point."
