Gilmore High on Gophers

Coach Kill has stated many times that he wants football players who want to be Minnesota Golden Gophers. Damarco Gilmore wants to be a Minnesota Golden Gopher.

"Yes sir, that's my dream," said Gilmore when asked about having the opportunity to play for the Golden Gophers.

Gilmore currently plays linebacker for Harlan High School in Chicago, Illinois. Through seven games, he leads the team in tackles with 63 and also has one forced fumble. Why does Gilmore have so much love for Minnesota?

"That's actually my hometown (Minneapolis). I lived there for 8 years. I love the campus," clarified Gilmore. "I moved there (to Chicago) in 2003. I still go there (Minnesota) every summer because I have family there."

The senior linebacker has recently begun hearing from Minnesota to along with interest from Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.

"Minnesota sent me a questionnaire to fill out a couple days ago," he said.

Gilmore is listed at 5-foot-11 and a generous 215 pounds. With the lack of a true linebackers size, Gilmore will likely end up as a defensive back in college. The lack of depth in the defensive backfield for Minnesota makes Gilmore an intriguing prospect.
