Is Murtha Still Committed?

All-American candidate and Hutchinson, Minn., native Lydon Murtha is verbally committed to Minnesota. The rumor mill says Murtha has backed away from that commitment. Is it true?

As college recruiters swept through the state of Minnesota, rumors had begun swirling that Hutchinson offensive tackle Lydon Murtha had backed out of his verbal commitment to the Golden Gophers.

Murtha had committed to the Gophers last winter but several sources said that during the May Evaluation period, Murtha had begun to second guess his early commitment.

We went to the source himself to get the story.

"No, I'm 100% committed to Minnesota," said Murtha. "I felt like I should at least see what else was out there just to make sure Minnesota was the place for me, but now I'm 100% sure that I'm going to Minnesota."

The big 6-foot-8, 320-pound, offensive lineman is one of the best prospects in the nation and he'll be a finalist for the All-American team.

Lydon Murtha will be a definite pre-season All-Midwest selection as well as a Midwest "Hot 100" selection.
