Dumas Dicusses Season, Recruting

Mike Dumas and the Island Coast Gators started off the season hot going 6-1 but have dropped their past two games and currently sit at 6-3 and are in danger of missing the playoffs. GoldenSports.net was able to catch up with the multi-talented Dumas and get the latest on his season and recruitment.

"The season has been going great but we lost this last game and might get knocked out of the playoffs," Dumas said. "We have bye week this week and our last game is in two weeks so we'll have to wait and see."

Dumas, plays both quarterback and cornerback for the Gators has played well this season at both positions but has missed this past week's game due to a concussion.

"I've been playing well but because of a concussion two weeks ago so I had to miss the game this week."

With a bye this week Dumas plans on making a trip to the University of Connecticut and also has plans on visiting a few more schools after his season.

"My recruitment has been going good so far, we have a bye week this week so I will be going up to the University of Connecticut," Dumas said. "This November I plan on taking trips to North Carolina, maybe Maryland, FIU, and maybe Vanderbilt too. Then in December I plan on making a trip to South Alabama."

Minnesota had been recruiting Dumas had over the summer months but recently he has not been hearing much from the Gophers staff.

"They have kind of slowed down with their recruitment with me. It has been about a month since they last talked with me," Dumas said.

With visits being lined up Dumas favors five teams at the moment and also plans on making a decision sometime in December.

"Right now my top five would be: Vanderbilt, North Carolina, South Alabama, Connecticut, Middle Tennessee and I plan on committing in December," Dumas said.

Dumas had stated earlier this summer he had planned on enrolling early at which ever school he committed but has since changed his mind and will graduate this spring.

"I had planned on doing early enrollment but now I will be staying the whole year and being with my family."
