Shabazz Lands Minnesota Offer

Trinity Valley Community College cornerback Martez Shabazz recently made a trip up to Minnesota for his first official visit. With one more visit lined up Shabazz may be closing in on a decision. GoldenSports.net was able to catch up with the talented cornerback and get the latest on his recruitment.

"Minnesota, Baylor, Western Kentucky, UTSA, Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette , Middle Tennessee State and some other Sun Belt schools have been recruiting me pretty hard," Shabazz said.

Despite hearing from a lot of schools Shabazz has just three offers after picking one up today, but another could be coming from a Big XII school.

"I have offers from Minnesota, WKU, and UTSA. Minnesota offered me today. I will be visiting Baylor this next weekend and they could be offering soon as well," Shabazz said.

Shabazz made a weekend trip up to the University of Minnesota for his first official visit and came away very impressed with game day atmosphere.

"My visit was good," he said. "I like the atmosphere. I liked everything about it. I liked the people everyone felt like family. I really liked the feeling I got while I was there. My favorite part of the visit was probably the game, I really liked the atmosphere. Even though they're having a bad season the stadium still was packed."

Out of the schools that have been talking with Shabazz he favors just three with one being a definite leader.

"Minnesota would probably be my number one school right now. Baylor and Western Kentucky would round out my top three."

Shabazz also plans on making a commitment soon after his visit next weekend.

"I'll probably try to make a commitment next Sunday or sometime next week."
