McCoshen Talks Recruiting

With a strong defensive core returning next season, the Gophers do not have a huge need on the blue line but are still looking at a few top prospects for the future. One such players is Hudson (Wisc.) native Ian McCoshen. GoldenSports.net caught up with McCoshen to discuss the latest on his recruitment.

At 6-foot-3 and over 200 pounds, McCoshen already has great size to play division-1 hockey. He has been playing for Waterloo in the USHL since last season when he was just 15 years old. In 42 games, McCoshen totaled six assists.

A physical player, he found himself with 38 penalty minutes on the year. This size and physicality have combined to make McCoshen a sought-after prosect, but are the Gophers interested?

"Wisconsin, North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth and Nebraska Omaha," said McCoshen when asked what teams were looking at him.

This early interest has led to a number of top offers for the standout blueliner.

"Yeah to all of them," said of his offers to Wisconsin, UND, UMN, and UNO.

Despite being a Wisconsin native, McCoshen claims no favorites.

"No, not really," he said when asked if any one team was standing out. "They are all even right now."
