Fruechte Ready to Get Started

It hasn't been easy for Rochester Community and Technical College wide receiver Isaac Fruechte to watch his teammates take the field every Saturday as he watched from the sidelines due to a redshirt. Soon the Gopher commit will be joining his new teammates at Minnesota as he readies himself to make an impact in the Big Ten next season.

"I move in on January 13 and school starts the 17th I think," the 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver said.

Fruechte took his official visit to Minnesota this past weekend to get more acclimated with his future teammates and coaches.

"My visit went well," he said. "The best part was being with the coaches and current Gopher players and building relationships and getting to know each other and talking about how excited we are about the U and things going on here."

Prior to his official visit, Fruechte got to experience the game day atmosphere on campus when he saw Minnesota battle border-rival Wisconsin on November 12.

"The game was not that great because we lost pretty bad but the atmosphere was awesome," he said. The game pretty much sold out and people went to see the Gophers be great and represent Minnesota well."

Since his commitment to Minnesota in early June, Fruechte has been building a strong report with his future position coach.

"I talk to coach Pat Poore almost once a week," he said. "I love how he is always full of energy and wants me there getting my grades and working on my wide receiver skills and my craft he always says. But he is a great guy—love his passion for the game and I think I have the same passion for the game as him."

Although he didn't play this past season at RCTC due to a redshirt, Fruechte hopes to make an instant impact during his first of three seasons with the Golden Gophers.

"I hope I can come in and play and have an affect right away," he said. "And hopefully represent Minnesota kids well and the state of Minnesota well too."
