Malik Rucker Drawing Interest

With the 2011-2012 recruiting season drawing to a close college coaches are turning their attention to the class of 2013. One name that has caught the attention of many schools is Robinsdale Cooper (Minn.) defensive back Malik Rucker.

While Rucker has yet to receive any scholarship offers the contact period is days away and he is quite confident that things are about to heat up. Rucker's confidence is backed up by a long list of schools that have already shown interest: Washington, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kansas, Rice, Houston, Nebraska Purdue and Minnesota.

Both Malik and his father have been somewhat disappointed by the lack of interest from hometown Minnesota. Malik's father said that the Gophers would certainly be in contention if they were to offer since all of his family is in Minneapolis, however Malik would also like to play in a warm weather state.

With all these schools looking at him already Malik has no favorites although his father played for Nebraska and his cousin, a name Gopher fans may remember from the 2009 Insight Bowl, is the third leading rusher in Iowa State history, Alexander Robinson.

Coming from a football family has certainly helped Malik become a better football player. "He's played up so he could compete with his older brothers really made him a better football player," said his father.
